NAME: Wasp
SPECIES: Kelenken guillermoi, a species of terror bird known for having the largest head of any known bird. Wasp is 10 feet tall.
GENDER: Agender (they/them or it/its, your choice)
ORIENTATION: Aromantic Asexual. Wasp has no interest in acquiring a mate and views the whole business with complete apathy. They may take a mate for a brief time if having eggs seems practical in some way, but this has not occurred yet.
AFFILIATIONS: Has an alliance and possibly friendship with the smilodon Zadkiel and the kangaroo Estavan.
KILL COUNT: 8 (Nairi, unnamed American lion, unnamed terror bird, unnamed megalania, list goes on)
APPEARANCE: Wasp's plumage is a slightly iridescent blue-purple dappled with darker stripes. During the spring and early summer, their plumage gains a shinier and more saturated appearance and their huge hooked beak becomes bright red in hue as opposed to the purple-black color it possesses in other seasons. Wasp's tiny vestigial wings are normally completely hidden in the mass of feathers on their back. Their dark scaled legs are incredibly strong and optimal for running quickly and for long periods of time. They can also be used for defense; a well-placed kick from one of these viciously clawed legs can deliver severe injuries, ranging from shattered bone to heavy bruising and painful gashes.
a reference i drew of wasp:
wasp's ingame appearance (if wasp looks different to you, it's most likely your markings pack messing their markings up. i don't have legendary markings)
PERSONALITY: As their name suggests, Wasp is not always a pleasant bird to know. As a primarily solitary creature, Wasp has a prickly and painfully frank nature when dealing with others. Though Wasp won't typically attack someone unless they are hungry, they will still make it very, very clear when they don't like you. Wasp sees no point in hiding what they think, and trods on the feelings of others with wanton disrespect, even when they don't intend to be mean. Never take Wasp by surprise, either, because they are almost certain to react with violence. Despite all these faults, Wasp can be a good friend or ally to have, because once they have warmed up to you, they will defend you at all costs.
HUNTING AND FIGHTING STRATEGIES: Wasp is exclusively a carnivore. Their size and coloration both make it difficult to ambush prey, so Wasp typically hunts by running prey down and either crushing it with their feet or shaking it to death with their beak. Wasp will kill and eat just about anything that they can catch (though they prefer not hurting children unless considered necessary), but they're smart enough to avoid hunting animals that live in groups who might try to hunt down Wasp in revenge. If forced to engage in combat outside of hunting, Wasp is a formidable opponent. Faced with a solitary foe, the terror bird is strong enough to take on all but the largest of opponents with their huge beak and powerful legs, but if they cannot end a fight quickly or find themselves fighting more than one creature at once, they will usually flee instead to avoid injury.
note: i base wasp's capabilities mostly on living animals such as ostriches, which can kill a human with one kick and run up to 70 mph. due to their heavier neck and beak, wasp cannot quite hit 70mph, and their peak speed is more like 60-65mph. however, their legs are just as strong, if not stronger, than that of an ostrich. wasp's strength may seem a little OP but if you do some research on living large flightless birds this is actually pretty typical
STRENGTHS: Size, large claws, strong legs, quickness and endurance, huge hooked beak, canny and skilled at the art of survival
WEAKNESSES: Has trouble fighting groups, doesn't work well as a team, both talons and beak are not particularly good for using tools, not good at making friends

STORY PROGRESSION
Wasp has entered Lazarus.
After a day spent wandering the plains, Wasp formed a tentative alliance with a rogue smilodon named Zadkiel to increase both their chances of success in hunting.
Zadkiel found an imprisoned feline named Velius in the Silvestre Pride's camp while Wasp was out hunting and tried, but failed, to rescue him. The next day, Wasp met up with Zadkiel and argued about the rescue mission, because Wasp didn't think it was worth it to risk both their necks over a stranger. However, Wasp finally decided that while they wouldn't help Zadkiel with the actual rescue mission, they would try to make sure Zadkiel couldn't be tracked down afterwards.
A feline named Holly approached them and attempted to persuade them to attack Yuura and the Silvestre camp directly. Both Zadkiel and Wasp were suspicious of Holly and thought it sounded like a terrible idea.
Later, Wasp killed an elk with Zadkiel near the pride's camp.
Wasp shouted at Zadkiel after he decided to temporarily join Silvestre Pride to save Velius, but eventually conceded that there was nothing they could do to stop the events in motion. They now wait at the border between the forest and the mountains to be able to meet with Zadkiel during his stay with the Silvestres.
The next day, the terror bird wanted to check on the Silvestre Pride den to make sure Zadkiel hadn't been killed when trying to join, but ended up getting a little too close when they got curious about the caiman and the terror bird chick that seemed to be living in the den along with the felines, and was spotted by Yuura. A short confrontation ensued, which Zadkiel saw, but Wasp was driven out without violence. Zadkiel came to check on Wasp afterwards.
Later that day, Wasp met and traded with the owl Ooru, who turned out to be living on top of Wasp's temporary lair. Wasp received a shiny rock in exchange for berries. They also met the armor-smith Estevan, who was passing through on his way to show some skulls to Yuura. Wasp offered to give Estevan elk bones if he wanted them, and then went to sleep.
For several days, very little of interest took place in Wasp's life. They continued to hunt and add bits of downy feathers and moss to their lair in order to make it a more suitable nest. During a particularly chaotic time at the Silvestre den, two terror bird chicks ran into Wasp's territory and were nearly eaten by the dire wolf, Aleese. However, Wasp saw Aleese as much tastier prey than the two chicks and attempted to kill her, giving her a heavy blow to the side before the dire wolf managed to escape into the river. The two chicks, Sadia and Mukki, seemed to "claim" Wasp after that, and Wasp was forced to deal with their harassment until Sadia heard Karvo chirping and they both ran back to the Silvestre den.
On a brief expedition into the jungle, Wasp encountered Velius. They were surprised to see that the prisoner Zadkiel was trying to rescue was out and about on his own, and said so. Velius explained that he was scouting for the pride -- the one freedom he was allowed -- but he had little chance of escaping due to Silvestre Pride's terrifying allies, such as megalania and titanoboas. Wasp became disinterested at this point and left with the offer that, should Velius find a way to escape, Zadkiel was still interested in helping him and Wasp would help him by extension. They also had a fleeting encounter with the lizard Cara, but did not speak to her.
On their way back to their nest after hunting in the jungle, they met a small terror bird chick named Jewel. Jewel was interested in Wasp, though the feeling wasn't mutual. Wasp couldn't get the chick to leave, however, and was stuck watching over a sleeping baby bird while they preened their feathers.
On a hunting expedition into the plains, Wasp noticed Estavan and Yuura speaking and paused to watch them and see what would happen. Unfortunately, the megalania Amadahy interpreted Wasp's actions as predatory, and charged at the terror bird to protect Yuura. A prolonged fight ensued, in which Amadahy got ahold of Wasp's foot and thrashed viciously, spraining the foot badly and opening up several gashes. Wasp in turn mutilated both the lizard's tail and her head with their claws and beak. The fight ended when a rival barinasuchus attacked Amadahy and forced her to release the kelenken. In order to make sure the terror bird left the fight, the kangaroo Estavan kicked them hard in the rump and bowled them over, but did not attack further. Wasp was then assisted by both Zadkiel and, strangely, Estavan, who directed them to a safe place to rest in the plains. Estavan gave Wasp herbal treatment for their injured and poisoned foot and then discussed persuading Yuura to ally with the terror bird.
Estavan returned the next day with more water for Wasp, and Zadkiel brought back an elk for them. Wasp was rather confused by all these acts. Though Estavan said he didn't want the terror bird to be indebted to him, Wasp felt like they should give him something anyway, and offered again (this time more nicely) to give the kangaroo bones regularly for his armor. Before Estavan left, Wasp called him a 'friend', and encouraged him to visit and talk with them sometimes.
A while later, Wasp wandered into the caves to try to find Estavan and ended up discovering the tunnel into the desert. Though they didn't stay long, they managed to hunt down and kill the dire wolf, Nairi, who had been sent on a test by Erebos to bring back a gemsbok. After eating the wolf, Wasp followed the sound of voices to Estavan's den, where he had been accosted by a strange feline, who was trying to be friendly but had underestimated how rude the inhabitants of Lazarus could be. Wasp hissed at her, ready to attack, but she adopted a submissive posture to calm them and left in a huff when Wasp and Estavan both gave her the cold shoulder. Afterwards, the kangaroo and the kelenken enjoyed a friendly conversation, in which Wasp gifted their friend the dire wolf's skeleton and pelt and Estavan urged Wasp to look out for a blind mesonyx, to bring her back to him if she was found.
While leaving the cave, Wasp briefly caught sight of a group of painted jaguars in the forest. They gave the strangers a wide berth.
Wasp had a brief encounter with another terror bird, Zyvaika. They asserted their dominance over the younger bird through intimidation, but after becoming certain that she wasn't about to fight Wasp for their right to wander Lazarus, they became more civil and even offered Zyvaika some advice about smilodons.
While looking for Lath in the jungle, Wasp spotted Yuura, and decided to approach peacefully to ask if she had seen Lath. Yuura divulged that Lath was staying with the Silvestres, and she would return the mesonyx to Estavan when she was able. Awkward, stunted conversation followed, in which the smilodon and the terror bird decided to make a truce, and Wasp left, intending to return to Estavan with the information they had acquired.
